OSHA Standards and
Workplace Hazards |
Access to Exposure and Medical
Records
-
Employers MUST inform employees of the existence, location,
and availability of their medical and exposure records when employees first
begin employment and at least annually thereafter.
-
Employers also must provide these records to employees of
their designated representatives, upon request.
-
OSHA standards require the employer to measure exposure to
harmful substances, the employee (or representative) has the right to
observe the testing and to examine the records of the results.
-
If exposure levels are above the limit set by the standards,
the employer must tell employees what will be done to reduce the exposure.
